Your memories belong to you.
OpenTrove exists to help people preserve life’s moments together.
We believe those memories should remain private, secure, and under your control.
We don’t build OpenTrove around advertising.
We don’t build it around public feeds.
We build it around the people you choose to remember life with.
Every design decision starts from one simple principle:
Your memories are yours.
What we store
When you use OpenTrove, we store the information needed to create, protect, and share your Stories and Troves.
This may include:
- your name
- your email address
- your verified mobile number
- your profile picture
- the Troves you create or join
- photos and videos you upload
- captions, names, dates, times, and locations you choose to include
- basic technical information needed to keep your account secure and OpenTrove working properly
We only collect the information needed to provide OpenTrove, protect your account, and keep the service reliable.
Who can see your memories?
Only the people invited to your Trove can view its content.
We do not make your Stories public.
They are not searchable by strangers.
They are not shown in a public feed.
We do not show follower counts.
We do not sell access to your photos, videos, Stories, or Troves.
If someone has not been invited to a Trove, they cannot view it.
Your photos and videos
The photos and videos you upload are stored securely.
Access is controlled by the permissions of each Trove. When someone opens a photo or video, we use secure access methods rather than exposing permanent public links.
Your content is treated as private by default.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and manage your account
- help you create and join Troves
- store and display the memories you choose to upload
- keep OpenTrove safe and secure
- provide support when you ask for help
- keep the service reliable
- send important service messages about your account
We do not use your private memories to build advertising profiles.
Trusted service providers
We never sell your personal information.
Some trusted companies help us provide OpenTrove, including secure hosting, storage, authentication, security, analytics, and customer support.
They may process information only as needed to provide those services on our behalf.
We may also share information if required by law, to protect people’s safety, or to protect the security and integrity of OpenTrove.
Your account
You remain in control of your account. You can:
- edit your profile
- manage your Troves
- leave a Trove
- remove your own uploads where permitted
- request account deletion
Account deletion
If you request account deletion, your account may enter a short protection period before permanent removal.
This helps protect you if the request was made by mistake.
After that period, your account and personal information are permanently removed according to our deletion process, unless we are required to keep limited information for legal, security, or operational reasons.
Security
We take security seriously.
We use modern authentication, encrypted communication, secure storage, and access controls to help protect your information.
No system can promise absolute security. But protecting your memories is one of our core responsibilities.
Children
OpenTrove is intended to be used by adults and by families under the guidance of parents or guardians.
Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding what they upload, whose memories they preserve, and whom they invite.
Updates to this policy
As OpenTrove grows, this Privacy Policy may change.
When important changes affect your rights or your information, we will let you know in an appropriate way.
